What I love about fashion is that it is an indicator of social tendencies. It's a subtle reflection of it's zeitgeist and most of the time we don't even realize when we are in the moment. Most of our historical understanding of the past has been made from looking at the garments we were wearing at the time to explain the structure of that particular society in time.
Last night I was hovering around the Golden Globes switching in and out since my interest, of course, was to see the red carpet dresses - and I started wondering - it seemed to be a lot of head to toe black and I didn't quite understand since that never seems to be the case on a red carpet like that. I made nothing more then a notion of it until L'Officiel Paris enlightened me. Apparently guests choose to wear black in protest of harassment and violence against women. I thought it was such a powerfull statement that today's outfit is inspired from last night - yes, I want in on this one :D Below is my subtle version of that message.
