Staying warm in all black!

The Dallas weather is such a schizophrenic number! One day it's 80 degrees (26 degrees celsius) and wearing a jacket is definitely a no go. The next day it will drop to 35 (2 degrees celsius) and the shock is real. This means that my wardrobe has gotten quite elaborate since packing away the summer part is not an option. In general I prefer wearing color, but for some reason when the temperature drops my Scandinavian genes kick in and I immediately am drawn to the basics, and on this particular day I went all in on black!

Happy Valentines!

Valentines Day is supposed to be about love - and when we think love we automatically think of it in context to a significant other or a partner. But I think what is more important, in order to live a life of love is to do more of what you love. Put your heart, mind and soul into your smallest acts and you will start to feel more love in your heart immediately. Happiness is not something you postpone for the future, it is something you design for the present, and the safest way to spark happiness is to do something nice for someone else - so I will use this Valentines Day to try and be a rainbow in someone else's cloud!

And possibly also give my man an extra long kiss when he comes home from work ;)

Kick'n it at home

Since I work from home some of the time, staying self motivated is a big part of my everyday, as I am the only one setting the tone and therefore the efficiency level. So on some days, styling myself up can help to give me that extra kick in the butt. Throwing on that red lip and swapping my trainers out with heels, all of a sudden has me going 120%. To me that is the subtle power of fashion, how it can empower you, boost your confidence and hence make you more efficient on those days when you need a little help getting there.

SS18 runway

As we are slowly approaching spring 2018 and since the couture runways was just last week, I thought we should take a look at a small recap. It seemed there was A LOT of transparency and fluidity happening across the board. Everything from magical lightweight gowns to transparent layers of practical garments such as shirts, trousers, jackets etc. The flounce we saw everywhere last summer reappeared, but this time in longer lines and a much more fluid expression. Fringes, pleats and gathers help all these delicate fabrics create volume. If you wanna buy in on these new aesthetics for our upcoming season, longer lines will be the keyword to take away this time around!

Below I have put together some styles already available out there, that goes in the direction of this runway recap, for your inspiration. I hope you will enjoy :)

Dressed up in Denim!

I am a denim girl! Always have been and always will be. Jeans are my default setting - if I don't know what to wear some kind of denim will always end up on me. On other days when I want to feel a little extra, some kind of denim will also end up on me. As much as I like to doll myself up and experiment with my outfits, comfort and functionality will always be my preference and thats why this denim, denim, denim look is one of my all stars! I will layer it up with tons of volume and my figure will be completely lost, but I don't care because I am comfortable and that's what feels sexy to me! I will add a finishing touch with these statement flower earrings, tie'ing in the white from the shirt and all of a sudden this functional look has a feminine vibe.

Obsessions

Does it ever happen to you? You click in on an online shop, just because it's been a while and you simply want to see whats up...All of a sudden your cart is full and you are about to bankrupt yourself?

I did this the other day - went in on TopShop's site to have a look at their shoes, and as it turns out - I now feel a strong pulsating need to own basically all shoes on their site, so I thought I would share some of my favorites down below. I also added some bags I am obsessing over because if you got cool shoes, you need a bag to go with!

Sneak' it up!

Last time I talked about my love for white trainers, I wore them with a casual sporty look and the vibe was leaning towards athleisure. This time I choose to style them with a silk slip dress and a big cosy sweater all in one color to amp up the stakes. The vibe is still casual but this time around you could actually go on a date, meet up with a friend, run errands or whatever else your schedule offers you. Its a look that would change completely if you swapped out the flats for some heels :)

The Shopping Guide that will save you money # Dress For Less Edition

In this guide I am going to talk about 2nd hand shopping. I think shopping 2nd hand is a great way to try out the current trends and get an idea of which trend feels right for you. Trends or fads are usually something that comes around quite quickly and leaves just as fast. That is exactly why it can feel a little pointless to invest a ton of money into something you don't know if you will still love in 6 months. On top of that, buying 2nd hand also means that you won't be adding to the massive piles of waste that this fast industry unfortunately is partaking in. Buying 2nd hand you are simply extending the life cycle of goods that have already been produced, and that does not only feel good for your wallet but also for your fashionista conscious. One woman's trash is another woman's treasure! :D

Of course there is a secret to this though, because we don't actually want to end up with a bunch of trash in our wardrobe, so going 2nd hand shopping with a clear mind is crucial! That is why I am going to share my top 4 tips in hopes that it will provide some kind of guided experience - and please feel free to share all your tricks to a succesful trip to the thrift in the comments below!

So - before I go, here are the steps I like to take so that I enter the thrift with a clear visual of what I am looking for.

1. I go through pinterest, vogue.com, fashion magazines, blogs etc. Where ever I get my daily input of fashion from and I create a visual idea of not only what the trends I see are but also what my cravings are leaning towards.

2. I go through my wardrobe to get a good understanding of what it is lacking compared to the trends I just narrowed down in step number one. Do I have a good denim jacket? How about a nice hoodie? Seems like there are a lot of prints going on, do I want to try that out?

3. I know that denim is a material that ages really well, so I will go though my jeans and get rid of the ones that are too worn down and just can't carry on with me anymore, even though parting with your favorite pair of jeans can be a heart wrecking experience. After I have gone though my mourning phase I then know which wash and which style of denim jeans to look for at the thrift - because lets face it - jeans will never not be in style!

4. The final step is to make a list based on the 3 steps above, and this list becomes my shopping list. This is what I will be looking for, and this list will be there to help me keep focus. Because loosing your focus once you are there is too easy! There are so many styles, so many colors so if you go without a clear and concise list 1 of 2 outcomes will happen. You either leave with nothing because you didn't really see anything you liked, or you leave with a whole bunch of trash that you later will give back to Goodwill because you got too excited about everything being so low priced.

Below I have listed 4 trends I recently went shopping for - and furthermore how much each of my outfits ended up costing me.

Suited

This look is one of my favorite looks. A suit is timeless, it will make you look spectacular with minimal effort, its versatile both in the way it can be styled but most importantly in the occasions it can be worn. Pair it like I did with some sneakers and you look casual, cool and collected. Change it up with some heeled strap sandals and you look sexy and fab. Wear a turtleneck under and pointed toe stilettos, all of a sudden you look professional and stylish. The possibilities are endless. I completely forgot I had it, but I am so glad I found it.

So here is the strange thing - even though a suit like this it such a staple that every women should own, when I started my search to try and discover some similar options I could link for you guys, I realized that finding one on the high street was very difficult. Designers do these every season, and they come in multiple wonderful styles. But designer is not always where you want to spend your money, and thats how I came to discover that the high street needs to up their game in order to give their women something as classic as this. I did my very best to find options for you all, and linked below are what I could find. If there is nothing there that speaks to you my final advice would be to go to you local vintage or thrift shop - you might even end up spending half the money you planned on there.

All Day I Dream About Sneakers

Today became a casual monday! Went all out on my athleisure vibes. In my opinion there is nothing more crisp then a clear bright white with a navy blue - and being the Scandi-girl that I am I don't think I will ever be able to live a decent life without at least one pair of white trainers. They go superbly with a casual look like this one, but throw them on with anything and you will instantly add a certain coolness. More looks coming soon on different ways to mix in your sneaks, so stay tuned!

Preparing for spring!

I still have a scandinavian mentality when it comes to seasons changing. I am preparing myself for a fresh and chilly springtime that translates to light and bright colors, with less layers but still warm enough to keep me from getting a cold. Below are some of my current favorites, even though I am fully aware that spring time in Dallas is nothing like mentioned above :D

L is for love

The runway for this current season was full of head to toe red outfits, and since primary red goes well with my skin tone I have really wanted to try out a "Red-To-Toe" look. Just to see how it would feel and if I could pull it off. My wardrobe already consists of 30% red so finding the right pieces to put together was a challenge. I know my next purchase will go to some red cigarette trousers and possibly a red hoodie, but here is my first all red version of the trend - and you know what - it felt pretty damn good to wear it, no where near as intimidating as I thought :D Although, I will say, wearing a look like this has to be on one of those days where you wake up with full confidence, otherwise it will feel like the outfit is wearing you and not the other way around :)

Below I have linked to some similar red styles in case you feel like trying out the trend as well.. I would love to know your take on this "Red-To-Toe" vibe - comment down below, in or out on it?

Steal her style

Sometimes the inspiration to get dressed is just not there. We turn our closet upside down and for some reason will still come up with the conclusion that "I am just not getting dressed today". Luckily there are some stunning ladies out there that we can look to on those days. Ladies who experiment, take it a step further and and just make you go "oh yeah - that totally works". And that is what Steal Her Style is for! Today's look to steel is this fabness of oversize, proportion, texture and length.

Below are links to designer pieces as well as budget friendly. It's up to you how to mix and match :D
